An AI agent your team can @mention in Slack
SelfAgentic connects each agent to Slack as its own app. Mention it in a channel or send it a direct message and it replies in the thread, using the tools you have granted it and what it remembers from earlier work. Slack is where you talk to an agent, so the work it does can end up in a Sheet, a brief or a drafted post.

What an agent can do with Slack
Answers where it is mentioned
Mention the agent in a channel or DM it. Once it is part of a thread it keeps answering follow-ups there, and it ignores channel messages that do not mention it.
Reads the thread first
It reads earlier messages in the thread and the images attached to them, so nobody has to restate the context before asking.
Uses the rest of its tools
A Slack request can end in a Google Sheet, a researched brief or a drafted LinkedIn post, depending on what that agent has been granted.
Brings in a teammate
Turn on delegation and an agent can hand part of a job to a teammate agent in the same thread, up to three hand-offs deep by default. Each agent needs its own Slack app.
How to connect Slack
- 1Open the agent in your dashboard and go to its Integrations tab.
- 2Create a Slack app at api.slack.com from the manifest SelfAgentic gives you.
- 3Paste the app’s client ID, client secret and signing secret back into SelfAgentic, then install it to your workspace.
- 4Invite the agent to each channel it should work in with /invite. You can also limit the channels it answers in, which stops direct messages too.
What needs your approval
A run that starts in Slack may happen while nobody is watching the result, so publishing is held back by default. A LinkedIn or Instagram post the agent writes from Slack goes to your Approvals inbox instead of going live, and Meta Ads changes are refused there: you make those from web chat, where you approve each one.
Things you can ask it
“@Researcher what did our three closest competitors ship this month?”
Searches the web, reads the sources and answers in the thread with links you can check.
“@Social turn this thread into a LinkedIn post”
Drafts the post from the conversation and sends it to your Approvals inbox.
“@Ops add these five leads to the pipeline sheet”
Appends the rows to the Google Sheet you point it to, if it has Google access.
Limits today
What this integration does not do yet, so you know before you connect it.
- Each agent is its own Slack app, created from a manifest. There is no one-click “Add to Slack” yet.
- Meeting search through Fireflies is not available in Slack. Ask about meetings from web chat.
Questions about Slack
Does every agent need its own Slack app?
Yes. Each agent appears in Slack under its own name, which is how your team knows who they are talking to, and how one agent can bring another into a thread.
Can a Slack message make an agent post to LinkedIn?
It can write the post. Because nobody may be watching a Slack run, the post waits in your Approvals inbox until you publish or reject it.
Does the agent read every message in our channels?
No. It responds when it is mentioned or messaged directly, and in threads it is already part of. You can also limit the channels it answers in.
